Severe Weather Closes Electric Zoo Festival Early
Aug. 31, 2014
(New York, NY) -- For the second year in a row, the Electric Zoo music festival was cut short. Organizers pulled the plug on Sunday's festivities after the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for the entire New York City metropolitan area. Skrillex, Kaskade, and Chase and Status were among the acts who never got their chance to hit the stage at the end of the three-day EDM event on Randall's Island. Posts on Electric Zoo's official Twitter page said the safety of concertgoers was their main concern, and promised to share refund information soon at ElectricZooFestival.com.
Fan safety was at the center of this year's Electric Zoo ever since its return to New York became official. Last year the final day of the event was canceled after two attendees died from drug overdoses. So this year, organizers stepped up security and made everyone watch an anti-drug PSA before activating their tickets.
