Israel Steps Up Gaza Offensive As Death Toll Rises

(Gaza) -- Israeli forces are pushing forward with their ground assault in Gaza while Hamas militants continue to fire rockets into the heart of Israel. Palestinian officials say at least 65 people have been killed since Israel sent ground forces into the densely populated Gaza Strip, pushing the death toll to more than 300 since the conflict began. The Israeli military reports one soldier was killed in a friendly fire incident, and several others have been wounded.
