At Least 15 Dead After Magnitude 8.1 Earthquake Along Mexico's Southern Coast

The quake was felt as far away as Mexico City where more than a million people are without power.

MEXICO CITY -- At least 15 people are dead after a magnitude 8.1 earthquake struck hit the southern coast of Mexico late Thursday. 

The powerful quake was felt as far away as Mexico City, amid massive power outages, buildings shaking and people fleeing into the streets. 

The U.S. Geological Survey says the epicenter of the quake was in the Pacific Ocean about 60 miles southwest of the state of Chiapas, at a depth of about 20 miles.
