Merkel Visits Ukraine Following Russian Humanitarian Delivery

(Kiev) -- German leader Angela Merkel is calling for a ceasefire during her first visit to war-torn Ukraine. Dozens of Russian trucks that brought unauthorized humanitarian supplies in to Ukraine yesterday are now back across the border. Ukraine had offered to let the trucks pass safely if they could be inspected by customs agents and were escorted by the Red Cross. Russia declined, accusing Ukraine of dragging its feet on inspections and saying the trucks had sat at the border for a week without being checked.
