North Korea Claims To Test Hydrogen Bomb

President Trump and several other world leaders are condemning the test. Trump says North Korea's "words and actions continue to be very hostile and dangerous to the United States."

UNDATED -- North Korea's latest nuclear test is being condemned in several countries around the globe.  The North claimed it successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb Sunday.

Seismic readings consistent with a nuclear test were detected.  China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government there was "resolutely opposed" to the test, carried out in spite of widespread opposition from the international community.

Moscow also condemned the test and called for dialogue and negotiations as the only way to resolve problems on the Korean peninsula.

In France, President Emmanuel Macron called for the complete dismantling of North Korea's nuclear program and said immediate action from the U.N. Security Council is needed.

President Trump is also responding to North Korea's latest nuclear test. The president confirmed on Twitter that the North had carried out a major nuclear test and said North Korea's "words and actions continue to be very hostile and dangerous to the United States."

He called North Korea a "rogue nation" that is also a threat and embarrassment to China.  Trump said that South Korea is finding that appeasement with the North won't work, as the North only understands "one thing."

As a result of the test, the United States is preparing to hit North Korea with more sanctions.  Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told "Fox News Sunday" he will put together a package of new sanctions. He said the package will stipulate that anyone doing business with North Korea cannot do business with the U.S.
