Over 700 U.S. Troops Now In Iraq

(Washington, DC) -- The Pentagon says there are now over 700 U.S. troops in Iraq. Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby says 200 troops were deployed Monday to provide security assistance at the U.S. Embassy and other facilities.
The U.S. is beefing up its military presence in Iraq as Sunni militants advance toward Baghdad. Kirby acknowledged helicopters and un-armed surveillance drones are also being used.
