Scientists Baffled By Huge Crack In Earth
Aug. 22, 2014
(Mexico) -- Scientists are wondering what in the world caused a humongous crack in the Earth that stretches for more than half a mile in northwest Mexico. Geologists are looking into how the 16-foot wide, 26-foot deep crack originated in a remote farming area. Officials speculate an earthquake at the San Andreas fault may be to blame. Other experts believe say a levee started leaking, creating an underground stream that weakened the earth above and caused it to crumble.
