UK's Terror Alert Level Raised To "Severe"
Aug. 29, 2014
(London) -- Britain's terror alert level is being raised. Speaking after his government upped the level to "severe," British Prime Minister David Cameron said the root cause of the threat is the "poisonous ideology" of Islamist extremism -- more specifically ISIS. Cameron said the U.K. will be taking additional steps to stop people from traveling to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS. Earlier, Britain's home secretary said the raise in the terror alert means that a terrorist attack is highly likely, but there's no specific intelligence that an attack is imminent.
