VP Mike Pence Says U.S. Will Defend Itself If Provoked By North Korea

Pence said to the UN Security Council Wednesday that the U.S. will respond with overwhelming military strength if North Korea attacks either the U.S. or its allies.

NEW YORK CITY -- Vice-President Mike Pence is in New York with President Trump at the UN General Assembly.

Pence spoke to the the UN Security Council, and applauded them for unanimously passing another round of economic sanctions against the communist nation, as it continues to remain a threat with multiple ICBM tests.

"The United States of America will continue to bring the full range of American power to bare on the regime in Pyongyang," Pence told the council Wednesday. "We will continue to marshal economic and diplomatic pressure form countries across the world to demand that North Korea abandon it's nuclear and missile programs."

President Trump said in an address to the UN general assembly Tuesday that if North Korea ends up attacking either the United States or its allies, they would be forced to "totally destroy" North Korea.

Vice-President Pence mirrored the President's comments a day later saying that the US has "great strength and patience", while also saying that "all options are on the table."

"If we are forced to defend ourselves and our allies," Pence continued. "We will do so with military power that is both effective and overwhelming."
