17 Displaced After Northeast Side Apartment Fire

The fire started around 1 am Friday morning.

INDIANAPOLIS--An apartment fire on the city's northeast side has left 17 people without a home. 

The Indianapolis Fire Department says fire crews were sent to 6835 Brendon Way North Drive just after 1 am Friday morning. 

When they got there, they witnessed fire coming from both the first and second floors.

One person in the apartment was awakened by firefighters banging on the door. 

Other people in the complex first noticed the fire coming from an attached rear storage unit which extended into the apartment. 

8 apartment units suffered fire, water, or smoke damage. 

Estimated damage is $175,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

No injuries were reported.
