74-Year-Old Woman Dies After Train Hits Car

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. Monday at a railroad crossing in downtown Edinburgh.

EDINBURGH, Ind. -- An elderly Johnson County woman died Monday after her car was hit by a train.

Edinburgh Police Chief David Mann says the crash happened on East Main Cross Street around 12:30 p.m. 

The victim, identified as 74-year-old Sharon Gobin, died later at Johnson Memorial Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for today. 

Police told RTV6 that the lights on the railroad crossing were flashing when the woman's car approached the tracks.

A reason for the crash has not been determined.
