Abandoned Candy Factory Is Now Apartment Complex Near State Fairgrounds

The Overlook will connect residents to jobs through fairgrounds, Ivy Tech

A new apartment complex has opened in an old location in Indianapolis.

The Overlook was once the Wellmade Candy factory. The building hasn't been home to candymaking in more than 30 years, and has been vacant for more than 20. Development company B-W-I added a fourth floor to make it a 50-unit apartment building, with an event center and conference room.

The building features a mix of regular and subsidized housing It'll have partnerships with the fairgrounds, three-tenths of a mile away, and with Ivy Tech to connect residents with job opportunities.
