Body Recovered from Water in Parke County

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a Rockville, Indiana man.

The body of 27-year-old John Androusky, was found in about  8 feet of water in Sugar Creek upstream of the Jackson covered bridge west of Bloomingdale, Indiana Monday night.  DNR officers say Androusky had been hiking with a friend on Sugar Creek Conservation Area when he reportedly swam across Sugar Creek and back.

According to witnesses, Androusky was standing near the water’s edge and collapsed into the creek.  A 911 call was placed by Androusky’s hiking companion to the Parke County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 5:28 p.m. The recovery was made by divers at 6:28 p.m.

Efforts to resuscitate Androusky were unsuccessful. An autopsy is is being conducted today in Terre Haute.
