Delaney Blasting Ballard Anti-Crime Plan

State. Rep. Ed Delaney is blasting Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard's anti-crime plan.

Delaney, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Mayor, says Ballard's $25 million plan to beef up preschool education is flawed and wouldn't help enough young people.  Delaney says 1,300 kids is too small a number to make a true impact.  Delaney says he supports pre-school, but adds that the Mayor's plan doesn't put enough focus on economic opportunities for young people later in life.

On another note, at 71, Delaney says he's not too old to run for the office.  He says he's the same age as Vice President Joe Biden and he just ran a half marathon.  He says he's not aiming to be a four-term mayor, but wants to restore city leadership similar to that of Richard Lugar, William Hudnut and Bart Peterson.
