Dog Shot in Parking Lot Right in Front of the Owner

Pet German shepherd named Major is alive but in bad shape.

LAKEVILLE, Ind.--Shooting a dog between the eyes in a parking lot in downtown Lakeville is the charge against Jon Hanley, 52, of North Liberty.

WSBT reports a German Shepherd named Major, got loose from his owner. Hanley was seen antagonizing the dog and threatening to shoot the animal, then walking right up to the dog and shooting Major right in front of his owner. The dog survived, but is in bad shape.

Lakeville Police Chief Patrick Howard drove Major to the animal hospital. Hanley was charged with criminal recklessness and may be charged with animal cruelty.
