A driver is in custody after a hit and run crash that injured an Indianapolis Metro Police Officer early Saturday.

Police say a man was driving the wrong way down Michigan Street near North Pine Street downtown when he hit the officer’s squad car around 4:00 a.m. After the crash, that driver got out and ran.

According to our news gathering partners at RTV-6, the officer was transporting a person in custody at the time of the crash. Dispatchers said the officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital to be checked out

After a brief search, the alleged hit-and-run driver was found hiding in bushes near Dorman and Michigan St. and taken into custody.
