Extreme Cold to Continue, More Snow on the Way

The really cold air is coming from Canada, says a NOAA forecaster. He says expect it to stay.

STATE WIDE--More snow is coming to Indiana and it could arrive just in time for your drive home from work. If you live in central Indiana, you could see one to two inches of snow. South of I-70 it could be one inch or less. If you live in southern Indiana, snow chances are much less.

Northern Indiana has a chance of snow showers for the next few days.

Extreme cold is also expected in Indiana, especially in the central part of the state, for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

The National Weather Service is predicting a low of -3 degrees for Sunday night and Monday morning. Monday's high is expected to only reach 6 in the central part of the state. Northern and southern Indiana will both have it a little better, with highs at 10 to 12 north and around 15 south.

"The cold air follows the jet stream," said Bruce Sullivan, senior forecaster at NOAA's Weather Prediction Center. Sullivan said the cold air that's affecting Indiana is coming from central Canada.

"Temperatures for the next week or ten days will probably remain well below normal for this time of year."
