Ft. Wayne Officer Suspected of Rape Pleads Guilty

A Fort Wayne police officer charged with raping a woman last fall has accepted a deal in the crime.

Crime scene technician Mark Rogers pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and official misconduct. Charges of rape and providing false information are expected to be dropped.

Court documents maintain the officer took an intoxicated woman to a hospital and then later sexually assaulted her in a city park. The woman had been arrested for OWI.

Rogers served with the police department for 19 years.   His trial was set to begin Sept. 16.
