Garth Brooks Says He Plans to Balance Fun With Respect in Indy
INDIANAPOLIS--Garth Brooks performs five shows in Indianapolis at Bankers Life Field House, starting tonight, through Sunday, with two performances Saturday.
"One of the greatest country music crowd audiences is right here," said Brooks, speaking alongside his wife and opening act Trisha Yearwood at a pre-concert press conference. "That's why we're back. We've seen what you can do. So, the pressures kind of on you, not us. Same band, same crew. We want to see what this crowd can do."
Brooks last performed a concert in Indy 21 years ago. His last performance was at IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon's memorial.
"It was an honor to come here and sing for Dan's people in this building, with just a guitar."
Brooks said he and his band plan to walk a fine line, doing a classy show that balances fun, while being sensitive to the mass murder at a country music festival in Las Vegas this Sunday.
