Hamilton County Head-On Blamed on Ice

The wreck killed one person Friday afternoon.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind.--A car crash killed one person in Hamilton County about 4:30 p.m. Friday, and police say it was because one car skidded on ice into the other lane, and the two cars hit head-on.

The crash happened on U.S. 31 at 256th St. Police said a car being driven by Luz Tavarez, 44, of Walton, Ind., skidded over the median and into the other lane.

The person who was driving the other car, Tracey Stewart, of Indianapolis, was treated for some minor injuries.

Police said it took about two and a half hours to get the road back open, and they are still looking into the wreck.
