Husband Arrested for Wife's 2012 Murder

The husband of a woman who was found dead on the city's near west side in late 2012 has been arrested for his wife's death.

Indiana State Police say Eugene Bingham, Jr., 53, was arrested Monday night for the murder of Sherese Bingham, 51.  Her body was found on the White River Parkway walking path near the intersection of Limestone and New York Streets on the evening of December 12, 2012.

The cause of death was listed as a gunshot.  A handgun was discovered at the scene.  The death investigation was briefly delayed due to two dogs belonging to the victim refusing to allow investigators near the body.  The dogs were removed by Indianapolis Animal Care and Control.

Eugene Bingham, Junior was charged with one count of murder and was taken to the Arrestee Processing Center.  Police did not release a motive for the killing.
