IMPD says the teen shot at Wes Montgomery Park Sunday evening was Deante Williams. The suspect is on the run.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has identified the teenager shot Sunday at a park on Indy's northeast side.

IMPD says 18-year-old Deante Williams was shot multiple times in the chest while visiting Wes Montgomery Park with his girlfriend at around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Williams was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers at the scene told WIBC newsgathering partner RTV6 that Williams and his girlfriend were meeting someone at the park when the shooting happened.

The suspect ran from the scene and is still being sought by police.

IMPD continues to investigate what happened.
