Indiana DNR Investigating After 91 Geese Found Dead

The geese were found in rural Porter County early last week, say state conservation officers.

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. -- State conservation officers need your help finding whoever killed nearly 100 snow geese in Porter County.

The Indiana DNR says 91 geese were shot and their bodies illegally dumped near County Roads 500 West and 1000 South early last week.

Conservation officers with Indiana DNR District 10 say they don't believe a hunter was responsible, writing on Facebook that "legal hunters find this sort of behavior disturbing":

"Our goal is to identify the responsible person/persons and to clarify this is NOT the work of a hunter. Legal hunters find this sort of behavior disturbing and detrimental to the positive image that the hunting community is known for."

Call 812-837-9536 or 1-800-TIP-IDNR with any information.
