Indiana Man Dies after Fireworks Accident in Kentucky

Michael Osborne, 25, of Salem was hit in the chest when the device he was lighting ignited prematurely.

HENDERSON, Ky. -- A southern Indiana man was killed in a fireworks accident in Henderson, Kentucky Monday night.

Michael Osborne, 25, of Salem was hit in the chest when the device he was lighting ignited prematurely.

Deputy Henderson County Coroner Bill Schwartz said it was "a big ordnance" that was "supposed to explode 100 feet in the air."

An autopsy will be conducted in Louisville, but Schwartz said it appears Osborne was hit so hard that it stopped his heart.
