Indy Ties 2016 Homicide Mark: Person Shot and Killed Near Fort Harrison State Park

It happened just before 10:30 pm near Shadeland and 65th.

INDIANAPOLIS--Indianapolis has officially reached last year's homicide record after a person was found shot and killed near Fort Harrison State Park late Monday night.

That victim was found by police with a gunshot wound and was still alive when police got there, but died from their injuries a short time later. That victim has been identified as 21-year-old Ryan Brown. 

It's the 149th homicide of 2017 in Indianapolis which is the same number of homicides for all of 2016.

This shooting was the first murder in at least 2 years north of Fort Harrison State Park and east of I-465 and I-69. It remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
