IUPUI Names New Chancellor

Paydar will replace retiring Bantz in August

IUPUI has promoted its chief academic officer to become the fifth chancellor in university history.

Nasser Paydar will take over for Charles Bantz in August, nine months after Bantz announced his intention to retire after 12 years. The former chairman of the engineering and technology school says he wants to continue the campus's two decades of growth, to serve as many Hoosiers as possible.

And he says he wants to make greater use of IUPUI's Indianapolis location to match students with learning opportunities, from internships to work with nonprofits.

Paydar says leading IUPUI is a key role in the community as Indiana's manufacturing-centered economy goes through transition, making a college degree all the more important to improving one's job prospects.
