Man Arrested in Connection With Muncie Homicide

Marcus Hanyard was arrested by Muncie Police on Monday, accused of murdering Zackary Farmer.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Marcus Darrell "Jefe" Hanyard, 23, was already in the Delaware County Jail when arrested Monday for the February murder of Zackary Farmer.

Muncie Police say Marcus Hanyard and another man shot and killed Zackary Farmer during a botched robbery on February 9th. A witness told police Hanyard had planned the robbery after getting a "tip" there were drugs and money inside the house Farmer was visiting. 

The Muncie Star Press says Hanyard is also "preliminarily charged with conspiracy to commit burglary resulting in serious bodily injury, attempted armed robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon."

Hanyard was already behind bars for violating the terms of his probation, related to an October 2016 arrest.
