Man Shoots Wife at Lawyer's Office, Gets 30-Year Sentence
INDIANAPOLIS--Thirty years in prison is the sentence for Robert Evans, who tried to kill his wife last year by shooting her ten times inside an Indianapolis law office, and at least once when she ran out into the parking lot.
Evans, 58, was convicted of attempted murder and got the sentence today, said Terry Curry, Marion County prosecutor.
On July 11, 2016, Evans and his wife were at the office at 72nd and Keystone Ave., to sign papers. They got into an argument and Evans went to his car, got a gun, came back, jumped over the receptionist's desk and started shooting his wife.
The employees scattered and one of them called 911.
Evans followed his wife outside and kept shooting. Police found her in the back parking lot.
She lived, but has permanent injuries to her organs.
Evans was caught by the IMPD SWAT team about a mile from the office.
