Mayor Announces Youth Job Grants

The Indy Public Safety Foundation has awarded more than 35-thousand dollars in youth summer employment grants.

The program is part of Mayor Greg Ballard's broader strategy to make the city a safer place. That plan also includes two new IMPD recruit classes, the reallocation of more than 150 officers to the street, an expansion of the 2-1-1 system, the Prescription for Hope program and re-entry assistance for ex-offenders. 

The Mayor says a comprehensive, holistic approach is needed to truly tackle the city's growing crime problem.
