A woman and her two children were rescued Saturday afternoon from the White River in Noblesville.

The Noblesville Fire Department was dispatched shortly before 1:30 to Potters Bridge on Allisonville Road.

A mother and her two children were playing by the riverbank when one of the children fell in the water and was carried away by the current.  The mom jumped in to try and rescue the child and her other child then jumped in to try and help the mother.

One of the children was able to grab onto a tree and hang on until rescuers arrived.  The mother and her other child were rescued by a bystander, David Norton of Cicero.

"If it were not for the actions of Dave Norton the outcome of today's incident could of had a tragic outcome," said Rick Russell with the Noblesville Fire Department.

The mother and children were treated and released at the scene.
