Muncie PD: BSU Student Was Drunk When He Hit Child With Car

Police arrested Jaylon Miskel for DWI after he hit a 4th grader with his car.

MUNCIE, Ind. – Police in Muncie say a Ball State student was drunk when he hit a child in a campus parking lot.

The Muncie Star-Press says Jaylon Miskel, 22,  hit a 4th-grade student in the lot on Tillotson Avenue at around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Miskel failed a breath test and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

According to The Star Press, Miskel told police that he was only going "about 20-25 miles per hour" through the parking lot and didn't see the young girl "in my peripherals or anything like that".

The girl is believed to have a fractured skull. She is recovering from her injuries at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
