Nearly 30,000 Potholes Filled In Indy's "Pothole Blitz"

DPW was out in force filling potholes this weekend, but many still remain untouched

INDIANAPOLIS -- If you think the roads are bad now, just imagine what they were like before crews filled nearly 30,000 potholes over the past four days.

Indianapolis Department of Public Works says crews took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and used a 'hot mix' during their four-day blitz.

'Hot mix' is an asphalt mix is a longer-lasting pothole fix and adheres better than the asphalt mix that's typically used during the colder months.

The four-day blitz started Tuesday and ended on Friday so crews could begin preparing for the weekend snow.

DPW says their crews will be monitoring the roads and weather conditions throughout the weekend to address any changes in the forecast. The Indy Snow Force Viewer will activate after crews hit the roads around 11 p.m. Saturday.
