New Clark Co. Sheriff Named Following Deputy Sheriff's Death

A new sheriff has been named in Clark County after the death Monday night of interim Deputy Sheriff John Kahafer.

Clark County sheriff Danny Rodden has appointed Lt. Col. Brian Meyer to the position of Chief Deputy of the Clark County Sheriff's Office. Rodden has been on an administrative leave of absence after he was indicted on criminal charges involving a prostitute in July.

Rodden had appointed John Kahafer as interim sheriff. Kahafer was found unconscious in his Jeffersonville home by his wife a week ago.

No official cause of death has been released.  Kahafer was 57.
