One Dead, Two Slightly Injured in I-70 Crash

A crash involving three semi tractor-trailers on Interstate 70 in Vigo County left one person dead and two others injured Wednesday night.

Indiana State Police say traffic on eastbound I-70 near the eight mile marker was slow due to construction.  For unknown reasons, a semi pulling two box trailers failed to slow down and hit the rear of another trailer driven by Randy Staton, 53, of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Staton's semi was forced into the rear of a box trailer being driven by Anthony Dewrock, 46, of Kennett, Missouri.  The driver of the semi that caused the collision was pronounced dead at the scene.  Staton and Dewrock sustained minor injuries and refused treatment.

The deceased driver's name is being withheld pending notification of family, though police say he is believed to be in his early sixties and not from the immediate Terre Haute area.

The crash caused a large amount of cargo to spill onto the roadway.  The eastbound lanes remained closed as of 10:30 Wednesday night.
