Person Found Shot to Death on Indy's Northeast Side

It's the first murder in the capital city in nearly 3 weeks.

INDIANAPOLIS -- A person was found dead in a vehicle on Indianapolis' northeast side Tuesday night.

IMPD says 22-year-old James Matthews was found dead inside the car along Schofield Avenue near the intersection of 34th and Ralston streets.

Police initially said the man had been shot, but said Wednesday that was not the case and the cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons.

It is the first murder in Indianapolis in almost three weeks. The last murder was February 1st when a man was found shot to death on a porch on Indianapolis' near-east side.
