A football player at Pike High School died after what the school district called a "medical emergency."

The Pike Township school district says about 120 players were in the middle of conditioning drills Monday when a 14-year-old sophomore collapsed.  The student, 16 year old Collin Kelly,  died at a hospital Tuesday morning, but the specific cause of death has not been determined.  "The entire Metropolitan School District of Pike Township community is deeply saddened by the death of one of our students. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends for their profound loss," read a statement released by Pike Township Schools.

The district says football practice at the high school has been suspended indefinitely to ensure the safety of other players.
