Greenwood Police say the pilot of a small Cessna type plane is dead after crashing into a house.

Police spokesman Matt Fillwenwarth says it happened just after 2 pm.  Fillenwarth says the plane lost power during takeoff from Greenwood Airport.  It was bound for an inspection in another state.

Fillenwarth says the plane hit one house and skid into another house at Patterson and Main on the city's east side.  A small fire resulted.  Fillenwarth says the plane's co-pilot escaped and has been taken to the hospital.
