Possible Suicide Attempt by Rushville Pastor Accused of Molestation

Garry Evans was unresponsive when police got to his house Friday night.

RUSHVILLE, Ind.--A Rushville pastor accused of molesting several young girls, may have tried to kill himself Friday night, after new charges were added.

RTV6 reports another child came forward Thursday, accusing the former pastor of the Rushville Baptist Temple of molestation. Police were called to Garry Evans' home Friday night, where he was found unresponsive.

Evans was taken to a hospital in Rushville, then airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis.

Police did not discuss details about his possible suicide attempt.

Evans, 72, is accused of luring a number of girls into his office at the church with candy, even touching them or having them touch him.

He's due back in court Nov. 28.
