Services Set For Delaware County Firefighter Who Died Hours After Responding To Fire

Jeff Blackmer's death is considered in the line-of-duty because it happened within 24 hours of responding to a fire.

MUNCIE, Ind. Services are set for a Delaware County firefighter who died not long after responding to a barn fire.

Jeff Blackmer died around 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hamilton Township fire station after he and other firefighters had returned from the scene of a fire.

Blackmer's death is considered a line-of-duty death because it happened within 24 hours of responding to a fire.  He was 42 years old.

Services are scheduled at Destiny Christian Center at 5000 E. Centennial Avenue in Muncie.  The calling is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and the funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday.  The burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Blackmer's memory to the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department.
