South Bend Man Busted Trying to Use Counterfeit Cash

Timothy Ross tried to buy a ride on South Shore Train Wednesday night and ended up in jail.

HAMMOND, Ind. -- If you try to pass funny money, you're probably going to get arrested -- even if you're just trying to ride the train.

Police in Hammond say Timothy Ross got on the South Shore Train Wednesday night and tried to use bogus bills to pay for his trip to the South Bend Airport Station.

He ended up having more than $1,000 in counterfeit cash, a gun, and instructions on how to make more funny money.

Ross, in additon to whatever charges he may face for trying to pass counterfeit money, is also wanted in Elkhart County for failure to appear.

He's currently in the Lake County Jail, awaiting charges.
