State Police: Ex-Treasurer Stole From Sullivan Co. Schools

Amy Kinnett is accused of using credit cards belonging to Southwest Sullivan School Corp. to pay for a wedding and other bills.

SULLIVAN, Ind. – A former school treasurer is accused of stealing more than $7,000 from the school corporation.

Amy Kinnett has been charged with one felony count of Official Misconduct and has been booked into the Sullivan County Jail.

Indiana State Police say Kinnett used credit cards belonging to Southwest Sullivan School Corporation between 2015 and 2017 to buy over $6,000 of personal items for a wedding, as well as clothing and grocery bills.  Investigators also say she also stole more than $1,000 of cash from the treasurer’s office.

Kinnett resigned in June during an ongoing audit and investigation into the missing money by the state Board of Accounts.

She had been treasurer with the school for eight years.
