Subaru Creating 200 New Jobs in Lafayette

The carmaker needs more workers as it prepares to ramp up production of its Subaru Ascent SUV.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Subaru of Indiana Automotive is bringing hundreds of new jobs to northern Indiana by 2018.

The carmaker will invest $140 million dollars into its Lafayette facility and create 200 new jobs to handle production of the new Ascent SUV.

"For 30 years, Subaru has spurred economic growth and I’m confident they will witness continued success as we work to take Indiana to the next level by growing our economy and developing the skills of our workforce," Governor Eric Holcomb said Friday morning in Lafayette.

The carmaker has more than 5,600 employees in Indiana and has created 2,000 new Hoosier jobs over the last 8 years.
