WIBC's Bob Lovell Inducted Into Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame

Wins award for outstanding contribution to Indiana high school basketball other than as a basketball player or coach.

INDIANAPOLIS--The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Annual Awards Dinner was last night at the Primo Banquet Hall. Network Indiana's Bob Lovell was named the Indiana Pacers 2018 Silver Medal Winner.

The award is given to someone for outstanding contribution to Indiana high school basketball other than as a basketball player or coach. It is given in addition to being inducted to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

Lovell has been the host of "Indiana Sports Talk" since its inception in 1994, which is affiliated on nearly 40 stations. It’s the most listened-to sportstalk show in the state of Indiana.

"It's not possible without the coaches, the media members, and the fans who listen to our show on Friday and Saturday nights," Lovell said at the awards dinner at Primo Banquet Hall Wednesday night.

"To play a small part in the lives of Hoosiers on Friday and Saturday night and to be a part of a show that matters is very gratifying," Lovell continued.

He was also the head men's basketball coach at Franklin College from 1977-1981 and athletic director and head coach at IUPUI from 1982-1994. Lovell has also been inducted into the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame.

Since 2003, Lovell has been an instructor at IUPUI teaching History of Sport, Sports Ethics and Recreational Sports Programming courses.
