Woman Escapes Assault Attempt on IU's Campus

The campus is still investigating and trying to find the man responsible.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind--One woman is counting her blessings this morning after she was grabbed around the neck by a man on Indiana University's campus late Monday night. 

The man approached her while she was waiting at the bus stop. He grabbed her neck from behind, but she screamed and hit him with her elbows which drew the attention of another person nearby. 

The man was last seen fleeing westbound on foot. He is described as a tall, thin white male in his early 20’s who was wearing a dark blue hat. 

The IU Emergency Management and Continuity office made the announcement on Twitter around 11:00 p.m. about the assault which happened near Jordan Avenue and 7th Street. 

They also gave one final update.
