American Doctor Killed In Pakistan
May. 27, 2014
(Islamabad) -- An American doctor is dead in eastern Pakistan after being shot eleven times in front of his wife and young son. Monday's killing of Ohio cardiologist Mehdi Ali Qamar may be the latest attack on religious minorities in Pakistan. He arrived in Punjab province last week to volunteer at a heart institute and to visit relatives. Qamar was about to visit the graves of family members in an Ahmadi Muslim cemetery when two men shot him to death. Some Muslims view Ahmadi followers as heretics and the faith is outlawed in Pakistan. Qamar was an assistant cardiology professor at Ohio University.
