Boehner: Iraq Airstrikes Appropriate

(Washington, DC) -- Republican House Speaker John Boehner says U.S. airstrikes in Iraq are appropriate. President Obama authorized limited airstrikes against ISIS militants to protect U.S. personnel and facilities. In a statement, Boehner said he is "dismayed by the ongoing absence of a strategy for countering the grave threat ISIS poses to the region." Boehner accused the White House of being "disengaged" from the growing threat in Iraq for too long.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid calls targeted U.S. airstrikes in Iraq the correct course of action. Two U.S. military planes dropped 500-pound laser-guided bombs on an ISIS target near Erbil today. President Obama authorized limited airstrikes against ISIS militants to protect U.S. personnel and facilities. Senator Reid noted that he would oppose sending U.S. combat forces back into Iraq. In a nationwide address last night, the President said he will not allow the U.S. to be dragged back into a war in Iraq.
