Doug Jones Wins Alabama Senate Seat, but Roy Moore Refuses to Concede

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- Democrat Doug Jones has been projected as the narrow winner of the U.S. Senate race over Republican Roy Moore.
Jones told supporters last night that he is truly overwhelmed. He said the Alabama campaign was about dignity, respect and common decency. Alabama is a deeply conservative state but Republican Moore was dogged by past allegations of sexual misconduct. The former judge rejected the accusations and refused calls by congressional Republican leaders to drop out of the race. Jones' victory is a big defeat for President Trump, who strongly supported Moore.
But, Republican Roy Moore is refusing to concede Alabama's Senate election. Speaking to supporters last night, Moore said it is not over and suggested a recount may be in order. He also said, "God is always in control."
President Donald Trump congratulated Jones on Twitter.
Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!
