Larry Nassar Sentenced To 175 Years In Prison
LANSING, Mich. -- Former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University doctor Larry Nassar has been sentenced for sexually abusing women and girls in his care.
In a Lansing, Michigan courtroom today after more than 150 accusers, including many Olympic gymnasts, were allowed to read their impact statements, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina sentenced Nassar to 175 years in prison.
Before sentencing, Aquilina said it was her honor and privilege to sentence Nassar, adding "You do not deserve to walk outside a prison again."
Michigan's Assistant Attorney General says Larry Nassar "might possibly be the most prolific child molester in history." Angela Povilaitis said "It takes some kind of sick perversion to assault young girls and also with her parents in the room."
The former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University has already been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for child pornography crimes. He is scheduled to be sentenced next week on more assault convictions in Eaton County, Michigan.
Michigan State is now being investigated by the NCAA to see what the school knew about the abuse, if at all.
