Mediators Scrambling To Extend Gaza Ceasefire

(Undated) -- Mediators are working hard to extend the three-day Gaza ceasefire that's winding down. Israel says it's ready to agree to an extension. But Hamas wants the Egyptian-Israeli blockade of Gaza lifted. The militant Palestinian group also wants Israel to release Hamas prisoners. President Obama says he has "no sympathy for Hamas" in its battles with Israel. In a news briefing Wednesday, Obama defended Israel and said no country would tolerate rockets being fired at its cities. He expressed distress over the high numbers of civilian casualties in Gaza and great sympathy for victims and their families. Obama accused Hamas of irresponsible behavior for placing rocket launchers near hospitals and schools.
