Murder-Suicide In Former NJ Republican Official

(Denville, NJ) -- Authorities are confirming an apparent murder suicide in the deaths of a former New Jersey Republican official and her husband. Seventy-five-year-old Joan Bramhall and her husband John were found dead in their Denville home Thursday morning. Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp says Joan had been fatally shot, while her husband John died of suicide by a self inflicted gunshot wound. The couple's daughter tells "The Daily Record" her father believed his wife of over 50 years was suffering from dementia and it had caused a lot of stress in recent weeks.
Bramhall served as the Morris County clerk in 1999 and retired last year. She served as a County Freeholder in the 1990s alongside now-Governor Chris Christie.
